An Afternoon at The Artful Dodger
The Artful Dodger is a coffee shop with a unique personality in downtown Harrisonburg. There, you can get coffee, sodas, “coffee food”, etc. It’s really a fun place. With the Presbyterian Campus Ministry group at JMU, of which I am a member (and also the Webmaster), we went to The Artful Dodger. Since it was an unseasonably warm day (70° in late January!), we had Italian sodas and played the card game Fluxx, provided by Scott and Laura Jane, which is a game of ever-changing rules. Here’s what happened…
“Hmmm… what cards do we have for this game?”
“That is one of the strangest rules yet!”
Action… those kind of cards are ones that only last for one turn that require immediate action from the players.
Amanda organized this whole event, which turned out to be a lot of fun.
“Gimme that card!”
And here’s the whole crew! From left, we have Laura Jane, Amanda, Scott, and Heather.
Well, look who got a keeper card worth keeping…
When playing Fluxx, you have several different cards. Yellow “new rule” cards, which dictate new rules such as hand limits, keeper limits, card selection rules, etc., pink goal cards which determine a certain goal to reach to win the game, green “keeper” cards, and blue “action” cards. All rules and goals are subject to change at any time.
When Heather’s looking for cards to play, she smacks the cards down on the table in record speed!
Seems that Heather won again! Heather had the right keepers, and Amanda played the goal card that drove Heather to victory.
